2023 Winners’ Summaries

Comments from our Winner’s:

It was a great honour and privilege to be nominated as a finalist and even greater honour to be chosen as the finals winner in the category. Whilst confident that we always had an outstanding nomination to put forward, I was always abundantly aware that the competition would be fierce and that was certainly the case.  A big thanks to not only my partners in the award but also a big congratulations to all of the finalists and winners on the night itself. I will look forward to next year’s awards

Rod Fraser, Manager – Protective Security New Zealand, Insurance Australia Group

“The OSPAs have raised the bar for the aspirations and goals of New Zealand security practitioners. The presentation by Professor Martin Gill was inspiring. After the awards ceremony there was a flood of enquiries from people seeking information both for the ASIS certification programme and post graduate university studies.

From a personal perspective, receiving the lifetime award was an unexpected and overwhelming experience, something I will treasure for the remainder of my life.

My thanks to Martin and the team ~ you have provided we Kiwis with an aspirational and inspirational blueprint for the future.”

David Horsburgh, MSc CPP PSP PCI, Security Consultant and Forensic Video Analyst

The OSPAs would like to thank all those who have helped to make the event such a success including: all the supporting associations and judges; sponsors: TEAM Software by WorkWave (headline sponsor); Edith Cowan University (trophies and certificates); Beca (drinks reception); Avidity Recruitment Consultancy, Guardhouse, Optic Security Group (award categories); and media partners – International Security Journal and New Zealand Security Magazine.

The event was organised in partnership with ASIS New Zealand and formed part of their Certification Dinner.
